What's Your Story?

What's Your Story?

“To be called a refugee is the opposite of an insult; it is a badge of strength,                                                                 courage and victory.”

The week of March 15th–21st is Harmony Week. It is a chance to honour the resilience and bravery of people who have had to leave their own country due to violence or persecution.

Azure Beach Library has the great privilege of hosting a Human Library event. It's a straightforward idea—refugees from the local community will volunteer to act as "human books,"   you  may then "borrow" one to "read," which essentially means to engage in conversation with them.

Human Library project (https://humanlibrary.org/) which uses discussion to overcome prejudice and preconceptions, is where the idea came from. Each "human" book includes a synopsis of the author's experiences, one item that could surprise readers, an instance of prejudice they've encountered, and their beliefs.

Let's start the Conversations!
