To celebrate International Youth Day, Azure Beach Library invites young aspiring filmmakers to a conversation about how to be more sustainable in their film making practices.

Did you know that blockbuster films can produce an average 2,840 ton of Co2 per production? It takes the equivalent of 3,700 acres of forest to absorb just one of those film's Co2 a year.

Please join filmmakers, Director of “The Green Film” (2022) and “Bring Me Back” (2025) Dan Simpson and Sustainability Co-Ordinator Ashley Andrews “No One But You(2023) on the future of film making and how it can and is becoming more sustainable. Come and listen to an hour-long conversation from industry leaders, followed by a 30-minute Q&A, and a show case of equipment you can loan from the library to make your films.

Coasts on the Cyber Canvas

Image: Playa de la costa gallega by Antonio MuiΓ±a

From Azure Beach’s white sands to its glistering seas, we have the fortune of being able to indulge in the local specialties or play in its waters. But how can we ensure this natural beauty will still be here—ten, fifty, a hundred years to come?

We all can play a part, with small actions leading to big waves. 🌊

For this year’s International Youth Day theme, Azure Beach Public Library invites youths to join our workshop in using the digital space to promote our local coastal scenery.

Image: https://www.universityliving.com/blog/beyond-uni/international-youth-day/

From the freshly inked newspapers to the screens of our digital devices, the way we communicate is everchanging. The importance of digital skills is increasingly, and our workshop is all about helping youths to develop their skills in research and content creation in the online space. πŸ“±

With the help of a mentor, templates and informational resources, participants will have the opportunity to draft a social media post concept featuring Azure Beach’s natural beauty or draw attention to any issues threatening our coastal town’s sustainability. 🌱

For the event:

  • πŸ’» Participants will be required to bring any digital device from home such as a phone, tablet or laptop.
  • πŸ“ Equipment and materials such as paper, pencils and pens will be provided.
  • πŸ“· The concept can be in any format (hand-drawn, digital, photo, video, etc.).

When: 12th August 2025, 6:00-7:30pm

Where: Azure Beach Public Library courtyard
