Fashion Forward: Shaping our future with Climate Action



Celebrate the power of young people in shaping our world this UN International Youth Day.

Have you ever wanted to make or mend your own clothes?

What real-world, local action can we take to protect the climate?

You're invited to attend our youth fashion show with a focus on sustainable practices, celebrating designs from local young fashion artists and exchanging ideas on how to make and mend fashion sustainably.

Youth Workshop: Crafting Social Media Campaigns for Change

For International Youth Day 2025, Azure Beach Public Library will be hosting a workshop for youth aged 15-24 all about empowering them to make change and raise awareness around issues they care about using social media.

The workshop will run for 90 minutes, during which local community social media star / activist Benjamin Hughes will be speaking about the ways you can use social media to make changes both locally and globally, accompanied by local youth from Azure Beach High School who are already doing the same. After a short roundtable discussion, participants will be encouraged to craft their own social media campaigns or posts for issues relating to one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (information about those via this link), while our discussion panel helps individuals along the way. Don't have your own device? Don't worry, we'll have plenty of iPads on site to follow along with and put your new skills you've learned to use afterwards.

 Tuesday August 12th is International Youth Day, a day all about young people and the issues they face.

Junk journalling is an emerging trend on Instagram, TikTok, Threads and more.This event will teach you how to become a 'Responsible Consumer' by reducing, reusing and recycling waste to create mementos of your life.  


 

 

 

What do I need to bring?

Bring your receipts, movie tickets, food wrappers and other paper rubbish. 

All your essential craft supplies (scissors, glue, notebook) will be provided. 

Feel free to bring any additional stickers, washi tape or photos you'd like to use.

 International Youth Day - Scavenger Hunt

Are you up for a fun-filled day at the City Park and a chance to win prizes?

Enjoying hunting for treasure as a group activity, where you’ll engage with others, collaborate to achieve a common goal, and have the chance to win prizes. This fun outdoor event promotes digital sustainability.  


International Youth Day 2025: Youth Empowerment for a Sustainable Future highlights the vital role that young people play in leveraging digital technology to build a better and more sustainable future. 

This event is designed to promote young adults’ use of digital technology skills and teamwork abilities as they take on engaging quests in an exciting scavenger hunt. This outdoor activity will encourage participants to explore Azure Beach Park using their mobile device to take on challenges such as solving trivia, deciphering cryptic clues, and completing photo/video tasks.  

You will have fun attending the event - engaging with others, working together to achieve a goal, and having the chance to win prizes. It's a great opportunity to build connections, learn new things, make new friends, and enjoy a memorable experience.   

 

This is a FREE event!

SUSTAINABLE CAREERS NIGHT


International Youth Day Event

Who: 15-24 year-olds looking for sustainable careers

Come on down to the Sustainable Careers Night at Azure Beach Library to learn how you can make a difference in the world. Hear from THREE STUDENTS who are using digital technology to turbocharge eco-friendly fashion, forestry and marine conservation. 

There will be speeches, Q & A and the chance for some 1-on-1 with our inspiring presenters.

Milly is finishing her Diploma in Fashion at TAFE Coffs Harbour and brings amazing stories from her recent placement in Sydney with the sustainable fashion brand, Bondi Born.

A final-year student at the Marine Science Centre, Southern Cross University, Josh will take up a dream job next year as a marine conservationist working on protecting our beautiful Barrier Reef.

Creating a Fashionably Sustainable Future

 

Celebrate International Youth Day in Style at Azure Beach Public Library!



Azure Beach Public Library invites anyone aged 15-24 to join guest speaker Clare Press for a discussion group about the future of fashion and how we can all make sustainable choices.


Clare Press will give a short talk about her latest book 'WEAR NEXT, Fashioning the Future', followed by a discussion where the group will talk about all the things they love about fashion and come up with different ways to change the current wasteful and exploitative industry, from making your own clothes to thrift and second hand shopping.
