Darn it!

We don’t mean to, but we have too many clothes; we buy too much, consume too much

and the world is drowning in clothing waste. Piles and piles of unwanted clothes go to landfill

or are shipped across the seas to clog up someone else’s backyard.

So, let’s try and soften our impact.

Come to Azure Beach Library on Saturday 17 January 2026 for a hands-on workshop with

the inspirational Jaki Oakli, fashionista-craftivist-lecturer from Southern Cross University.

They will talk about repair and mending in relation to the fashion industry and then you’ll

have the opportunity to learn some cool mending techniques. All you need to do is come

along and bring a favourite item of clothing that has seen better days.

Scissors, needles, threads, fabrics and all other materials (sourced from local second-hand

shops) will be supplied. This is an intergenerational event, and members of the Azure Beach

Craft and Repair Café will be on hand to help you thread that needle and stitch that stitch.

Snacks provided: foraged tea and vegan biscuits

This is a free event.

Where: Azure Beach Library, 39 Stitch Street, Azure Beach, NSW

When: 17 Saturday 2026

Time: 3.00–4.30pm
