To help celebrate and bring together Azure Beaches diverse community, Azure Beach Public Library will be running a Human Library with the theme, “Behind the Art”. Throughout history Art has been able to cross cultural boundaries, as it can be understood in any language and all social groups, and our hope is that we will be able to do the same with this event. A Human Library is similar to regular library where people go to
check out books. The only difference is that the books are all human
volunteers who have chosen to speak about themselves and their experiences openly to an
interested audience and answer question. All of the 'Books' in this Human Library are local artists and will have a selection of their works with them.
This event is going to be carried it in conjuncture with Harmony week, this years theme being "Everyone Belongs". The ‘Books’ will be made up of local artists from a variety of backgrounds. The event aims to support the Arts and local creative industries as well as exploring questions like, What does an artist look like?, Is Art important?, What does it mean to be an artist?, etc.
