A quick scroll through the average young adult’s Tiktok or Instagram feed will reveal that fast fashion has become a key part of the cultural landscape. From Shein hauls to Kmart dupes, fast fashion is as pervasive as it is unsustainable. The fashion industry is one of the highest polluting industries in the world and in Australia alone 200,000 tonnes of clothing ends up in landfills yearly.
This is why Azure Beach Public Library has chosen to tackle the issue of fast fashion head-on as part of International Youth Day 2025. Hitting Pause on Fast Fashion is a workshop that will be run by sustainable fashion and lifestyle influencer Catherine (aka @project.catherine). In this hour-long workshop, Catherine will be sharing her own story of how she went from being a fast fashion consumer to embracing sustainability, and all the tips and tricks she learned along the way.
So if you’ve ever found yourself poking a finger through a paper-thin shirt you bought a month ago or wanted to make a change in your shopping habits but are not sure where to start, join us at Azure Beach Public Library on August 12, 11:00am where you will gain the knowledge and practical skills to make your wardrobe, and your life, more sustainable. Register here to reserve your spot.
