This year's International Youth Day theme is "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development". International Youth Day is an initiative by the UN that celebrates the innovations and ideas of youth, our world's future leaders. It's about empowering young people to step up.
Did you know that 75% of people aged 15-24 used the internet in 2022? Technology is an integral part of daily life, no doubt part of yours. However, internet access is not equal; women have less internet access than men, especially in low-income countries. Internet access in the least developed countries increased from 7% of the population in 2015 to 36% in 2023. The UN has identified digital technology as one of the key transitions in achieving sustainable development goals.
Youth make and shape global digital trends. It's a powerful tool that is integral to addressing current challenges.
For International Youth Day at Azure Beach Public Library, we're using digital technology for sustainable urban planning.

A community youth leader will discuss what makes a city green and how you can design sustainable cities. You will get into teams to make your very own sustainable city. The best city wins a green award!
This event is open to all youth aged 15-24. Limited spots available.
