Everyone Has a Story - A Human Library Event in Celebration of NAIDOC Week

Hosted by Azure Beach Public Library in celebration of NAIDOC Week.

Dating back over 60,000 years, Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have the oldest known culture in the world. They are the traditional custodians of this land and yet they are not recognised within the Australian constitution. Since colonisation from European settlers in 1788, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have been oppressed and are still subjected to racism and discrimination in the modern-day.

At Azure Beach Public Library we believe that everyone has a story to tell. By coming together and sharing our diverse lived experiences we can forge a stronger sense of community filled with love, compassion and appreciation for others in the hopes of a better tomorrow. Azure Beach Public Library is partnering with the Human Library Organisation to hold our first Human Library Event in celebration of NAIDOC week. We invite you to borrow one of our human "books" and engage with their story as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and their life experiences.

Date: Thursday 11th of July 2024
Time: 5:00pm - 8:00pm
Where: Azure Beach Public Library, 44 Lightning Way, Azure Beach NSW 2100
