Queer Lives Through the Decades - The Living Library of Us

Queer Lives Through the Decades - The Living Library of Us

Coming along with Mardi Gras, join us here at the Azure Beach Library at 11:00 on Saturday, the 17th of February, as we celebrate the lives of queer elders in Australia! In association with the Human Library organisation, Azure Beach is holding an event for seniors and queer youth and anyone else who wants to come and learn from the old but not forgotten queer seniors of Australia.

There is more to life than the norm, and people have been living outside it for decades and centuries. We want to break boundaries between people, give those who may not have thought about the other side a chance to learn about the lives of queer people, the highs and the lows. In the words of the Human Library, come here and unjudge someone.

A living library event is an event where people come in to spaces where they have the chance to talk to Books, people signed up with the Human Library to share their stories. It offers the chance for people to learn more about other people's lives. We here at Azure Beach believe it very important to learn from people of all ages, genders, and sexualities.
