A Human Library Event
When you think of refugees, do you see beyond stereotypes? Often, we imagine them only as victims or cultural clashes; but the fact is, most refugees are resilient, contribute to the community, and add to our cultural diversity.
Exciting
news:
Azure Beach Public Library is hosting a Human Library Event for
Refugee Week! Engage in insightful dialogue sessions as you "borrow"
six human books of refugees, challenging stereotypes and understanding their
journeys. Each book “borrow” session is 20 mins.
Let’s meet our human books:
- Aduc: Escaped Sudan's civil war, now a nurse and interpreter in Australia.
- Daniel: Ethiopian university teacher turned Australian permanent resident.
- Jean: Burundi to Australia via a Tanzanian refugee camp, TAFE student.
- Natalie Lobastov JP: Former Russian refugee, 2018 Australian of the Year nominee.
- Nazifa Ali: Afghanistan to Australia, bilingual community educator.
- Yuol Akoy Yuol: Fled Sudanese civil war,
aspiring student at Charles Sturt University.
Save the date and join us for this unique and eye-opening experience!
