Human Library Event

Listen, Learn, Discover

With 20% of adults in Australia going through mental health issues, it is important for discussion in the community as it can feel like a very isolating experience when no one wants to talk about it. To show that you are not alone, the library is holding a Human Library Event in recognition of Mental Health Awareness month.

The Human Library event gives members of the community a chance to individually talk and listen to the four volunteers that will be our "Human Books", and find out about their struggles in life, how they live with and overcome their problems, and get to know more about topics they may not usually get to have with other people.

The Human Living Library is an organization that provides individuals an opportunity to listen people that they would not normally meet or talk to, these people are the “books” (volunteers) and they talk about their experiences to help others to overcome their prejudice, misunderstandings, or curiosity they may have about them as a person or others like them.
