Listen, Understand and Respect “Human Living Library “- Azure Beach Library ------ Mental Health Awareness Month: October 2023

Azure Beach Library will host “Human Living Library” event on Oct 12, 2023 as one  part of Mental Health Month activities.

Mental Health Month is celebrated each year in the month of October in NSW. It gives us opportunity to understand the importance of good mental health in our life. The Mental Health Month theme for 2023 is 'We all have a role to play'. It encourages us to pay more attention to  our mental health and wellbeing, consider the ways we connect with the people around us. Seek assistance if needed.

Human Living Library is an event in the library, in which you can borrow people as “books” for a certain time, and talk with “book’s in the library. Here you can hear stories of different  people who may suffer from mental disorder, flee from war, be homeless, child abuse survivors etc. This conversation will challenge everything we may take it for granted and help us “unjudged someone”.

Aim:  Increase understanding and respect for diversity in the community; improve the mental health and wellbeing of culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Theme: “let’s talk each other, so we will know each other to improve the mental   health and wellbeing of marginalized communities”.
