In NSW, there are approximately a monthly
reported cases of 2,500 related to domestic violence, and this likely to only
representing 40% of actual incidents due to underreporting (NSW Council of
Social Services NCOSS, 2020).
In relation to this, Azure Beach Public
Library is hosting a Human Library event to create awareness and promote a
clear message of no tolerance of domestic and family violence in Azure Beach
community. We are targeting people from
all walks of life and gender to participate in this event.
Human Library is an event where real people (“book”) are on loan to
readers for a personal conversation.
Azure Beach Public Library has invited 3 “books” who were the victims of
domestic violence, and willing to share their stories on how they survive and
move on. For this event, you could spend a 20-30 minutes session with the book of your choice.
